#1 : Use your research sources: historically student who do not reach out to the reference librarian or the writing center for assistance on their paper, are surprised when they receive lower grades.
#2 In the past, when students use the the writing center and the center sends me a note they received assistance, I have either lowered the grade level requirement by 1/2 a grade or added a 5% extra credit on their final paper. This is on a case by case basis and discussed during an advising session.
