Campaign Project (Due May 1, 2018)
Read Chapter 14 of your textbook ‘Capital and Endowment Campaigns’
Your project will be to take the organization you chose earlier in the semester and design a capital
campaign for it. Once you have read enough to become familiar with the organization, determine some
needs it may have. For example, if you chose a children’s medical hospital, you might decide it needs a
new wing added along with equipment’s, beds, staffing etc. Make a list of those needs and come up
with a total campaign goal.
Next, take the overall campaign goal and develop a timeline (including the phases of the campaign (see
pages 237-241 of the textbook).
Create a gift chart/ pyramid to meet your campaign goal (see pages 228-229 of the textbook). *tip: there
are many of the calculators on the internet, such as: https://www.blackbaud.com/nonprofit-
resources/gift-range-calculator
Finally, write up a two-page description of the campaign. This goes beyond the case statement and
details what you would expect if you were the campaign manager. Describe how it will be staffed. How
volunteers may be used? What types of donors will you prospect? Will you seek donations from
corporations and foundations? Are there specifics that make your project unique?
