Assessment Task 1: Skills and Knowledge Activity
The answers to the following questions will enable you to demonstrate your knowledge of:
Language skills
Literacy skills
Numeracy skills
Employment skills
Detailed aspects of human development throughout the lifespan
Attachment theory
Key factors that may impact on the individual at identified stages of human development and their potential effects, e.g. The impact of trauma
Legal obligations, particularly in relation to child protection and elder abuse issues
Appropriate range of referral sources and associated protocols
Awareness of own values and attitudes and their potential impact on clients
Indicators of significant issues
Organisational standards, policies and procedures.
Answer each question in as much detail as possible, considering your organisational requirements for each one
Perform a brief observation of a client. Note down their age and for each of the lifespan areas, (physical, cognitive, social and emotional), a milestone that they have met and a milestone that they have not.
Perform a test to assess the attachment of a child to its main carer. Note what type of attachment you think the child has and why.
What are some of the indicators of abuse – choose one of the following:
Child abuse (i.e. Different types of child abuse)
Abuse, neglect or harm including self-harm
Domestic and family violence
Elder abuse.
