Discuss the mediums in our society and compare them to the novel Fahrenheit 451. Is Bradbury correct why and why not?
Bradbury?s is contention that many critics have misinterpreted this novel. It is not a novel about government censorship, nor was if written in response to Senator Joseph McCarthy. Rather, Bradbury contends, it is a novel about a culture living in an industrialized country surrounded by technology and abrogating its responsibilities toward life. Bradbury felt that television was destroying our ability to think critically. We were and still are, being misled by a medium that delivers everything to us in ?factoids.? What is important is being given to us in sound bites with no meat to the message is Bradbury correct? Are we in fact our own worst enemies for allowing the media to behave in this way, or are there other conspiratorial forces controlled by the government subtlety taking control of our lives one step at a time and we are unwitting victims?
