Final Paper: “Legal Analysis and Practical Implications” (150 points maximum): Students must submit an original paper analyzing one of the following federal labor or employment laws:

The Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 (ADA) and Americans with Disabilities Amendments Act of 2008 (ADAA);
The Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA);
The Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA);
The Occupational Safety and Health Act (OSHA)
Student papers should be 8-10 pages, double-spaced, justified, in Times Roman 12 point font and contain the following:

An overview of the law;
A historical perspective of why the law was enacted;
A summary and analysis of a specific lawsuit (to be found online) that was brought under the act;
An analysis of the law’s impact on our current business climate (from the perspective of employers as well as employees); and
A personal perspective as to whether the student believes that law does or does not achieve its intended purposes. If there is a misuse or unintended use of the law, the student should explain and indicate what changes to the law they would recommend.
