book reviews The papers should be typed 4 – 6 pages in length, double spaced, using size 12 Times New Roman font and one inch margins . Please note: I was in college for 15 years; I know all the methods to make your paper seem longer than it is. Do not try to “slip one by me”. It’s not going to work but it will make me cranky. Points will be taken off for grammatical or spelling errors. On the first page of the paper (you don′t need a cover page) put the name of the book, the author, and the date of publication, the publisher′s name and your name. The body of the paper should include an (1) Introduction- -why you chose this book, what the author′s main goal or theme is in writing the book, and how this topic relates to the field of anthropology. Describe any information you glean as to where and when the research field work was done. What academic background or type of anthropology was evident? Following the Introduction, in the (2) Body of the paper you will want to summarize and discuss each chapter′s main themes and assertions and begin to relate the ideas of your book to the chapters and terms from your textbook which relate. (3) Find five terms which really clarify or exemplify ideas or applications in your book of choice, and after defining each term, give an example of how that term is presented in your book. Underline the terms so that they stand out to the reader. Once you have finished this section you will write a (4) Summary in which you discuss the impact of this book on the field of anthropology and the importance of this book to you. You may consult book reviews, but the paper should be written in your own words. You may use some quotes from the book, just give the page number as your reference. It is not necessary to develop a bibliography or use any particular style of notation.
