Write a focused, developed essay in response to the question. Keep in mind that introductory and concluding paragraphs help you reader (me) to follow your train of thought. Be sure to refer to at least 2 works (poems) in your response.

Remember: Just write one essay and refer only to the works we have read in this poetry unit. Use citations if you use outside sources.
Poetry can evoke strong feelings in readers. Sometimes it shocks us, amuses us, provokes us—makes us think. Choose 2 poems (minimum) that had a powerful effect on you as a reader and examine what makes those poems so powerful. While it will be appropriate to discuss your own reaction, be sure to back up your answer with specifics from the poetry.
