Assignment: You have recently been appointed to a Program Office role reporting to the Program Office Manager in an Australian-based organisation with offices worldwide. The organisation provides a diversified portfolio of architectural design, construction and facilities management services, maintains its own substantial IT infrastructure and is anticipating the need to manage significant organisational change over the coming decade. The Program Office has exclusively supported project management based on the PMBOK Guide, but is looking to support one additional approach to project management, to support future capability growth.
Your task is to compare and contrast two of the following approaches to project management: PRINCE2; Systems Engineering; and Agile project management. You are requested to compare these approaches, but not to recommend one of the approaches. Your manager is looking for information on which they can make a decision, not for your decision or recommendation. Your manager has a Ph.D. and is likely to appreciate referenced evidence in your analysis.
Task 1: Analysis Framework
Word count: Up to 500 words
Description: Select and / or develop one or more frameworks for comparing and contracting two of the following: PRINCE2; Systems Engineering; and Agile project management. Define a basis for comparing the chosen approaches. The same Analysis Framework must be used to compare both of the project management approaches you select.
Task 2: Analyse your first approach to project management
Word count: Up to 1500, excluding references
Description: Analyse one of the approaches to project management that you have selected according to the Analysis Framework you have developed / selected in Task 1. Your analysis of the selected approaches to project management must be thorough and sufficiently comprehensive for someone else to make a decision between the approaches presented in Task 2 and Task 3.
Task 3: Analyse your second approach to project management
Word count: Up to 1500, excluding references
Description: As Task 2
The analyses conducted in Task 2 and Task 3 should be able to be read independent of each other. They will be marked separately.

Marking Criteria:
Task 1: No marks are provided for Task 1 directly. The quality of your submission for Task 1 is assessed in relation to Tasks 2 and 3.
Task 2 & 3: – Consistency between the literature and your description of the selected approaches to project management (P-1: Foundational Knowledge)
– Appropriate and effective use of referencing and ability to follow assignment submission and preparation instructions (P-1: Foundational Knowledge)
– Appropriate and effective choice of analysis framework, and its suitability to the approach to project management analysed (R-1: Critical Engagement)
– Depth of analysis and evidence of critical engagement with which the project management approach (R-1: Critical Engagement)
– How clearly were significant aspects of the project management approaches described (C-2: Written Communication)
