The Collaborative Institutional Training Initiative (CITI) online course may be useful in providing some background information and some initial resources. To access the CITI online course, follow
the instructions described below.
Instructions for CITI registration:
1. Go to https://www.citiprogram.org/default.asp?language=english
2. Register for the RCR course (details may have changed but are included for assistance)
a. You will need to select your own username and password
b. Provide your first and last names
c. Email address
d. CME/CEU credits are not required
e. You may or may not want to be contacted to complete a course survey
f. Required information
i. institutional email address
ii. department (eg Pharmacology)
iii. role in research (student researcher – undergraduate; lab research staff)
iv. Country (Australia)
v. Your institution (University of Western Australia)
3. Answer questions to select curriculum
a. Select “Yes, I want to continue”
b. Select “Undergraduate Students, Basic Course”
c. Select “No” regarding registering with another institution
The CITI course is presented as a series of modules. Each module will take approximately an hour
to read through. If you complete the entire CITI online course with a combined score of at least
80%, you will obtain a completion report which may be printed from the CITI website.
Completing the CITI online course is NOT required for this unit.
