Specifically, you should write a five-paragraph informational essay that compares and contrasts two of your favorite books.

What do these books have in common?
How are they different?
What makes them both appealing to readers?
The goal of an informative essay is not to present your opinion, but “to inform or educate the audience on a
given topic”
Remember to craft a strong thesis statement, an overview of your main point, that explains why both books
are appealing, despite their differences.
As you write your informational essay, try to follow the basic five-paragraph format. Here is a review of
that format.
1. The first paragraph should grab readers’ attention and contain a thesis statement which communicates
the main idea of your essay.
2. The next three paragraphs make up the body of the essay. Each paragraph should have a topic sentence
and should provide evidence to support your thesis statement.
3. The conclusion paragraph should restate the topic sentence and finish with a statement that supports
your position.
Remember that an expository essay, including an informational essay, generally should not include pronouns  such as “I” and “me.”
