What is it like to be a stranger? What are the advantages or limitations that you experience when you are in a new place with people you don’t know? What are the concerns that you might have when a stranger comes into your neighborhood? What kinds of cultural customs govern how we treat strangers?
choose just one or two of the issues involved when a stranger shows up in a new place. Draw on examples from three of the following texts in order to illustrate your points. You should pick moments in which strangers encounter each other, or in which the text describes a custom that governs interactions with strangers. Think about how strangers present themselves, how people judge strangers, what kinds of assumptions they make, etc.
