Describe what you see. Include a well-thought out thesis, then discuss the specific features of the statue. Discuss the knife strapped to himself (used because he was a scribe), the pose he is standing in, both fists clenched, and the skirt he is wearing. Research can be done on the statue and reasoning behind the artists choices but do not discuss the historical context of the statue. Simply describe what you see using art history terms: medium, scale, relief, in-the-round, subject, function, etc. Don’t say “it is very detailed”, describe the actual detail.
