Project Proposal and Focus Group Reflections

Producers put together proposals to attract funding, creative teams, and ‘talent’

Based on the field excursion to Movie World, select a popular movie theme and create a proposal for a theme park attraction (area, ride, show, event, etc) that can be developed at Movie World.

Students need to take into consideration branding, marketing, intellectual property, copyright.

l complete the proposal process by proposing an actual entertainment product.

Following the visit to Movie World, prepare a formal proposal to redevelop a section of the Theme Park in relation to a chosen movie theme. Movie World is looking to build its appeal to overseas audiences, as well as to keep domestic (people who live in Australia) audiences coming. Your proposals will be part of that effort.

choose their own movie property, ensuring that it is not from a studio that Warner Bros. is not associated with.

consider the elements that will be popular with both international and domestic audiences visiting Movie World.

While developing this new product you must also demonstrate that you understand the brand identities of both the movie property and those of Movie World, and that you work within these identities. Samples of branding guidelines will be provided for some existing Movie World properties as a guide for you. All students will be responsible for seeking as much information as possible from which to guide their proposal. A section of the Proposal will reflect the IP, copyright and branding work undertaken in Week 2.

You are not required to submit a budget, although your proposal must be financially realistic: eg if you were redeveloping the Looney Tunes Show, you should not include things like “and then three helicopters fly down and lift Tweety, Bugs Bunny, and Daffy Duck into the sky.”

Your product proposal will be submitted electronically through a pre-formatted Proposal document. Each section within the form will have a maximum number of characters and it will automatically stop accepting characters when the pre-determined limit has been reached. The limit will be indicated within each field that is to be completed.

The Proposal will include the following:
1. Movie Property
a. Title
b. Description
c. Core Features
2. Movie World Proposal Outline
a. Brief outline of core concept
b. Area to be redeveloped
3. Project Detail

ii. Characters
b. Point of difference to existing Movie World offerings
